“When nightingales go mute
And sparrows play the flute.
Know that your dream has now
Taken a deep, deep, root.
And when moths shun the flame
And butterflies burn bright.
Know that your mind can now
Dance to the thrum strum of lute.
Now you, with your closed eyes,
Can wander through meadows.
Know that your tongue can now
Savour the luscious fruit.”

This poem was written while experiencing a migraine attack, which frequently holds my brain captive.

I admired you before, now I envy you. Absolutely beautiful and you did it with a migraine! Amazing.
Thank You for such compliments… They really encourage me.
Maybe, I did it because of migraine 🙂
these are the most beautiful butterflies ever
🙂
Migraine is awful. Credit to you that you can write during a migraine attack. I don’t get so many these days. Gave up dairy several years back and it was a tremendous help. I wish you lots of luck with finding your trigger and saving yourself the pain and aggravation.
Ah yes, I’m still trying to figure my triggers out…
I wish you lots of luck in doing so. It took me a long time, but life is better since I managed to do it.
Best wishes.
I’d upper that migraine is a gift. I have it too. It gives me access to different realms of thought. But I do agree that it interferes with your daily life.
My personal observation is that migraine is pretty much more common among those who are creative. 🙂
Superb. I used to suffer from migraine and it paralyes me for 3-4 days. Its your positivity that you could write .
Oh… I hope it’s better now. I can keep up with my routine, but it does effect one’s thinking capabilities…
Thanks for appreciation! 🙂
Thanks, its completely gone.
Awww, sorry you have been ill. Some of my darkest poetry comes when I am under the agony of chronic pain. I admire you for turning out something positive despite your distress. 🙂
This is one of the most spontaneous piece of poetry I have ever written… Didn’t put much thought into it, I actually recited it to myself and then realized I had to write it 😀 Though, I feel much more fresh after these attacks than I before them 🙂
Thank you for stopping by.
You’re welcome! 🙂
You actually did write a poem while experiencing the migrane. Shukran! MashAllah great piece 🙂
I write poems, specially of this kind, to cheer myself up. Writing did my mood good back then 🙂
Well, Umr, I like your kinda’ migraine – if this is what comes out of it ! Keep penning. Cheers.
Sometimes it does… 🙂
